Is it really that different from telling people there's a "safe" way to have sex outside of a monogamous, committed relationship? I think in either case, calling it "safe," is ignorant. Calling it "safer," or "less dangerous," is more accurate - and as long as the fact that it isn't actually "safe," but rather a means of reducing the risk of harm, it is probably a good idea to educate people. Less risk of harm isn't as good as no risk of harm, obviously - but it's a lot better than a huge risk of harm, right?
